The Magic of Thinking Big - Build Confidence

Continuing our look at The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwarz, I'm going to pass on his suggestions to help build your confidence levels. Once you have mastered your fears, this is the next step in your route to a successful life.

When attending meetings or seminars, don't automatically hide away at the back. Sit at or near the front, and play an active part to become truly involved. If you are going to spend your valuable time there, you may as well speak up and be part of the meeting. This will help build your knowledge of the subject matter, and hence build confidence. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Chances are, someone more shy will be wondering the same thing, and in their eyes you will be a positive person.

Always try to make eye contact with people when speaking to them. People that avoid eye contact either look as if they are avoiding teh truth, or that they feel inferior or scared. Make eye contact and show the other person that you are confident and trustworthy.

You can tell a lot about a person's level of confidence by their walk. Next time you have a spare fifteen minutes, observe people walking in town. People who are fed up with life tend to shuffle along; and average paced walk shows that people are settled with what they have in life; the super-confident walk faster, with their head held high. Try putting a spring in your step, shoulders back, head up, and see how confident you feel and look as you stride out to that next appointment.

Finally, but maybe the most important point, smile a big smile. It is almost impossible to not feel confident when you wear a big smile. And it's difficult for someone to feel annoyed with you if wear a big smile and are genuine and sincere.

Use these four tips regularly, and soon you will be boosting your confidence levels further than you ever thought possible.
